April 1999 San Pedro and Glen Ivy

The group gathered at Joanne's new house in San Pedro--she had moved into it in 1998.

We then went to Glen Ivy.

Missing were Sharon and Anne.  It was a sad year.  Continuing discussion of the problem.

Question: "Could this be the end?"

Jeanne proposed inviting Louise to join the SW7.

1998 No gathering of SW7

Back history:

Dick left in 1996.  We did not meet in 1996.

Intervention occurred in September 1997...? 

10th anniversary of SW7 trip to Santa Fe was 1997, so a second trip to Santa Fe was done in April 1997.   Anne did not go-- Marie was born in May 1997.

Sharon sold her Palos Verdes house in 1997.

Sharon talked to Terry Sandbek on the phone in January, 1998.  She saw him in Portland in April.

Jeanne broke up with Lisa in 1998.  Difficult year.

In summer 1998 Barbra was visiting California to see her friend Joy, living in a cabin in Muir Woods (Mt. Tamalpais Canyon).    Sharon brought Terry to meet Barbra and Loie, who joined them.  

No gathering of full Southwest 7 in 1998. 

1997 Santa Fe

This was a ten-year anniversary of our weekend gatherings.

Karen, Loie, Jeanne, Barbra, and Joanne attended.

Sharon and Anne did not go.  It was after the intervention in September. 

It snowed--there was a light dusting.

1995? 1996? Idylwild

We met at a home in Idylwild on Mt. San Jacinto.  All were present.

Sharon reported on being betrayed by Dick financially.

Sharon to Barbra: "Don't marry him."

Barbra: "I didn't legally."

Karen had only pretended to get divorced.

We celebrated Karen's 50th birthday--so the year may have been 1995.

Earlier in fall 1996 Barbra visited Sharon at her home in Palos Verdes Peninsula.

"So who or where is God?" asked Barbra.

"It would have to be in the music," Sharon answered.

1995 ???? Napa Valley/Calistoga??

Loie had moved back to California and started teaching at USF.

We went to a mud bath and hot springs in Calistoga.

What year was this?  Maybe 1996?  After Idyllwild or before?

(In 1995 Sharon discovered that Dick had betrayed her financially.)

1994 Palos Verdes Estates

We met again at Sharon's beautiful new home in Palos Verdes Estates.

It was the wedding year of Heather and Eric, as well as the beginning of Barbra Graber and Dale Metzler's union (reported marriage July 1994).

Heather married Eric, August 1994.

Did we meet in the spring or fall?

1993 Mendocino

Dark house on the cliffs... hot tub.  Fall gathering.

Jeanne was disappearing.

Sad year:

• Joanne learned troubling early history of her father.  
• Anne's nephew died in February 2003.  
• Nate's father died.
• Barbra in healing from recovered memories.  In spring 1993 she was feeling suicidal.

Joanne gave us all red t-shirts with a quotation in Gaelic on them.

Karen and Barbra went sea kayaking afterward on the coast.
